Tesco Ireland launch new Christmas 2023 Teddy in support of Children’s Health Foundation

Meet Gerry the Giraffe.

Tesco Ireland has announced the arrival of this year's Christmas Teddy in support of the Children’s Health Foundation.

Gerry the Giraffe is a new plush teddy that will be available to buy in all Tesco stores nationwide from today (November 6th).

The giraffe is made from 100% recycled materials and costs just €5, with all proceeds directly donated to Children's Health Foundation.   

The story of how Gerry the Giraffe got his moniker can be traced back to earlier this year when Tesco held a competition for the children attending Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres to name the Christmas 2023 teddy.

This year, 10-year-old Abby Murphy from Donaghmede, Co. Dublin, was crowned as the winner.

Since 2014, the Children’s Health Foundation and Tesco Ireland have joined forces to support sick children and their families across Ireland, raising €9 million for vital medical equipment to help treat Ireland’s sick children. Tesco shoppers are now being encouraged to help their mission by purchasing Gerry the Giraffe, with all proceeds going to Children’s Health Foundation.
