Police are appealing to those who "could potentially be traumatised" after witnessing the incident.
Police in the US have said the deaths of a mother and toddler appear "suspicious" after they fatally fell the equivalent of six storeys from a baseball stadium concourse.
The 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were pronounced dead on Saturday after emergency responders arrived to the scene at the stadium in San Diego, California.
The pair fell from the third level concourse of Petco Park, where thousands of baseball fans were attending a game between the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves.
San Diego police said that while efforts were made to resuscitate the two family members, it soon became clear that neither had survived the devastating fall.
They added that while it may be too early to know whether the fall was accidental or intentional, the deaths "appeared to be suspicious."
According to the
San Diego Union-Tribune, the mother and child had been at a dining/concession area prior to the fall, and the child’s father was at the ballpark when it occurred.

"We are speaking to the father of the child," said Lt. Andra Brown of the SDPD Homicide Unit, according to
CBS 8 San Diego.
"They are not married, but we have the father of the child here and we are speaking with him."
Police appealed to witnesses to come forward with any information or details of what they may have seen.
"Our hearts obviously go out to the family, but also to the people who here could potentially be traumatised who saw this," Brown said. "It’s a horrible, horrible thing. That’s why we’re giving it a very serious look."
In a statement, the San Diego Padres said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of life at Petco Park last evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of those involved.
"We will continue to refrain from comment on the nature of the incident as it is an ongoing investigation by the San Diego Police Department."
