10-year-old Irish boy passes away on holiday after hit-and-run in Tenerife

A 10-year-old Irish boy has passed away on holiday after a hit-and-run in Tenerife.

The child was on holiday on the island with his family when he was hit by a car in Adeje on Thursday evening.

He was rushed to hospital where he died the following night.

Police in Adeje are currently searching for the person who responsible for the accident.

A Facebook post from Tenerife authorities reads:

“Colleagues in Adeje are still working on trying to track down the person responsible for the accident in which a boy from Ireland has died.

“National Police are helping in this task as well as Civil Guard and local police (…)

“With the police working on the case and the public’s help, we’re going to be able to find this person.”

The boy was leaving the Gran Sur shopping centre with his family around 8.30pm on Thursday when he was hit by the car.

He suffered head injuries and chest injuries that affected his right lung.
