These 7 AMAZING beauty buys are worth their weight in gold (no, really!)

Trine Jensen-Burke

Being a beauty journalist, I am lucky enough to get to try out a whole lot of goodies and gadgets, something that I willingly admit is a great perk of the job.

In the last couple of years, I have waded through a lot of lotions and potions. Some were good. Some were great, and a very few were so amazing in delivering results that not only will I not hesitate in recommending them to everyone, I will also be buying them over and over again forever more.

Here are my seven oh-my-God-you-will-love-them-too beauty favourites:

1. Aveda Shampure Composition

I love Aveda products for a lot of reasons, one being how natural and good-for-your-skin their products are. This oil is my new go-to product for whenever the skin on my body feels a little dry, and is perfect for keeping elbows, knees and even my scalp soft and nourished.

Oh, and did I mention it smells divine?

Available from House of Fraser.

2. Clarisonic Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution

I have used this for a couple of months now, and have seen a huge improvement in the texture and tone of my skin.

Clarisonic is hailing their latest invention, the Sonic Radiance Brightening Solution, as a real breakthrough in terms of combating the appearance of hyperpigmentation, discoloration, uneven skin tone and dullness, and I could not agree more. You also get two different cleansers and a brightening serum to use with the device, and all I can say is that this actually really works.

Available from Brown Thomas, House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols.

3. Eve Lom Cleanser

There are cleansers and then there is Eve Lom. And ever since I tried this cult-product a few years back, I can never find anything that will even come close.

Using this cleaning balm alongside the muslin cloth it comes with makes cleaning your face at night feel like having a mini-facial every day.

Available from Harvey Nichols and Space NK.

4. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

This product is one of the beauty world’s best-kept secrets and yet one I feel every woman in the world needs to know about. This balm will literally, whether you apply it as a primer under your makeup, or even just layer it over it, visibly brighten and tighten your skin, making you look instantly younger, prettier and more well-rested.

I know it sounds like a lot to ask from a tube of cream, but if you try it, you will see what I mean.

Available from Boots and Clarins counters nationwide.

5. YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizers

A lot of women will list the famous YSL Touche Eclat concealer as one of their can’t-live-without-it products. Myself included. And now I have fallen head-over-heels with the latest additions to the Touche Eclat family too.

These colour-correcting neutralizers work by evening out your skin tone and giving you a perfect looking complexion. The apricot hue gives you a warm glow and adds a little glow. The green colour is ideal for covering up areas of redness or blemishes, and the violet shade tricks the eye into making the complexion look brighter, perfect for cancelling out any yellowish shadows under the eyes.

Available from Brown Thomas, House of Fraser and Debenhams nationwide.

6. This Works Skin Deep Dry Leg Oil

I LOVE this product!

If you, like me, are prone to dry skin on your shins and legs, say hello to your new lifesaver. This all-natural blend of cold-pressed plant oils will help tackle and dry, rough and undernourished skin on legs and body, and will leave your entire body glowing.

Available from Arnotts and Harvey Nichols.

7. Essie Tying The Knotie

I am very particular about my nail colours, and will only wear Essie or Chanel, as I find these are so much easier to apply than any other brand, the selection of hues are amazing, and they last several days before starting to chip.

And not only that, I am also picky about what I wear where, and always stick to dark (dark!) shades on my toes, and only light pink on my fingernails. Recently I discovered Essie’s ‘Tying the Knotie,’ which, in my humble opinion, is the most perfect shade of pink you can find.

Available from good department stores and chemist nationwide.
